Who we are

A bespoke accountability service, tailor-made for geyser claims.

Since 2004, ISS has given insurers a verifiable chain of custody over every geyser salvaged from a claim.

ISS recovers geysers, PRVs, vacuum breakers, safety valves and drain cocks from vetted collection sites — recording each one electronically before it leaves.

Salvage is returned to a regional warehouse, inspected and randomly tested. Suspicious failures, not burst units and in-warranty products are flagged and reported to procurement managers the moment they're detected. The result is direct accountability, tied to a specific claim number.

The ISS process

Three disciplined stages, one clear chain of custody.

Every component is tracked from the moment of collection to its final, legitimate recycling — so insurers always know exactly what happened to their salvage.

STEP 01 Securing a salvaged geyser on a collection truck

Recover

Geysers and components are collected from vetted collection sites and recorded electronically on location. A signed record is emailed to the contractor before departure — nothing moves untracked.

STEP 02 Inspecting and pressure-testing a geyser valve on a workbench

Verify

At the regional warehouse, salvage is inspected and randomly tested. Suspicious causes of failure, not burst units and in-warranty products are recorded and reported to procurement managers by direct email, at the time of detection.

STEP 03 Sorted copper, brass and steel salvage ready for recycling

Recycle

Components are sorted, processed and recycled. All scrap metal is sold legitimately to legitimate dealers, with revenues declared to SARS — keeping second-hand units out of the plumbing market for good.

Why insurers choose ISS

Accountability that protects the bottom line.

Two decades of disciplined salvage handling translates into fewer fraudulent claims, cleaner data, and a defensible audit trail.

Fewer fraudulent claims

Direct accountability tied to a specific claim number, with salvage and photos available post-replacement to counter opportunistic claims.

18+ years of failure data

Geyser failure data captured by region, manufacturer, type, size and pressure rating — a rich resource for analysis and risk modelling.

Independently audited

ISS is audited by international auditing firm Moore. All scrap revenues are declared to SARS — full transparency, end to end.

Reduced water-damage risk

Second-hand geysers and components are prevented from re-entering the plumbing market, lowering the risk of future water damage and injury.

Clear monthly reporting

Monthly reports are submitted to the insurer or incident manager, with a portion of salvage revenue returned based on volume and quality.

A proven national system

An established operation across the Western Cape, KZN and Gauteng, refined through research trips to Poland, Germany, Hungary and the USA.

Responsible by design

Recycling that keeps risk out of the market.

Geysers and their components are sorted, processed and recycled — with only the insulation discarded to waste, and alternatives actively being researched.

  • All scrap metal sold legitimately, revenues declared to SARS
  • Second-hand units prevented from re-entering the market
  • Collaboration with Stellenbosch University on water-cylinder bacterial research

People at the core

More than a salvage operation

More than a salvage operation, we uplift people.

ISS has never measured its success by profit. In a country where meaningful work is scarce and opportunity is unevenly shared, we believe a business carries a responsibility beyond its balance sheet.

Creating stable, dignified employment for people who might otherwise be overlooked is not a by-product of what we do — it is held to the same standard as every other part of our operation. Each role we create represents a livelihood, a household supported, and a person given the opportunity to build something lasting.

When you partner with ISS, you support more than an efficient, accountable salvage service. You support a business that puts people first.

Every role created is a livelihood, a household supported, and a future built.
